What is the best month to plant pepper seeds?
It depends on the growing region you are in, we're in Colorado so we start our seeds in late March or April, roughly 6-8 weeks before the last chance of frost is expected in our area in mid-to-late-May.
How to get pepper seeds for planting?
You can use seeds out of peppers you get from the store, or from peppers you grow, but they must be fully mature, and unless they are fully isolated, you may get different peppers from the seeds than their parent if they've had the opportunity to cross with other types of peppers. Of course seed companies like ours are great too for getting seeds – but keep in mind that not all seed sellers are equal. To be sure your peppers will grow into the pepper you expect, buy seeds from time-tested and highly reviewed seed companies so that you don't get peppergated*! Not all seed sellers and sources are going to be consistent and grow true to the variety.

Sandia Seed prides ourselves in having quality seed sources so that our pepper seeds grow true to variety. Our customers' seed reviews back this up!
Sandia Seed does offer our a seed guarantee! Replacement seeds or a seed refund are offered if your peppers do not grow or are not the expected pepper. We make every effort possible to ensure your success. It starts with our quality seeds. All our seeds are select grade and germination must be above 85% before they are accepted as Sandia Seed Quality.
*Peppergate Definition:
In past years, people were purchasing pepper seeds and plants from many other seed companies only to find out the plant is something different than the label. For example, they were expecting Jalapenos but got sweet Banana Peppers instead. It's only clear once the pods start forming that a mixup has occurred. Online communities have dubbed this mystery as "Peppergate." Of course, if this happens, the peppers are still edible, but just not what was expected. To avoid this, don't be fooled, buy seeds only from established credible seed sellers like Sandia Seed.
Happy growing!
