WHEN TO START CHILI PEPPER SEEDS
We usually start our chili pepper seeds indoors about 6-8 weeks before the last frost date (unless you're lucky enough to live in a warmer climate, some chili gardeners and farmers grow year round in more temperate climates).
Keeping peppers growing indoors until it's warmed up to about 60-70˚ F at night outside at night is ideal, then they can be hardened off (taken outside in their pots for longer and longer periods of time for a few days to a week), and then transplanted into your garden. Some gardeners with spring weather temperature swings such as in Colorado use insulating water walls that keep the peppers warm during cold spells and protected during spring hail storms.

How to Grow Peppers »
Growing Chili peppers in your garden is a great way to add beauty and color to your vegetable patch. Peppers look gorgeous if grown in large containers, and they can also be used to line pathways as the plants are beautiful and healthy for the entire season. Some peppers are grown just as ornamental peppers, though we like to use all peppers in our recipes or for drying and crushing into hot pepper flakes or powder such as our Carolina Reaper Powder Recipe. You can also make Carolina Reaper Salt with any of our hot pepper seeds. May as well use them, right?!
