Currently, the Carolina Reaper is still the record-holder for being the world's hottest pepper. The Carolina Reaper has tested at over 2,200,000 Scoville heat units, which makes it the world champion for being the hottest pepper.
While there has been talk of Pepper X and Dragon's Breath Chile being hotter... none of these claims have been yet proven or awarded the Guinness Record.
