This is one of our hottest green chiles and when it hits your tongue, pain signals rush to your brain. Then your brain releases endorphins that cause a mild euphoria, so you feel better and want more green chile!  The molecule responsible for making the hot burning sensation is capsaicin and each new bite stimulates the brain to send out more endorphins to soothe the pain. Pods are small at 5” long and are screaming hot. Plants grow to 30“ tall. A good addition to any garden. Grown near Hatch, NM and sold as Lumbre X-Hot.  Capsicum annuum (85 days) Heirloom - Open-Pollinated

Heat Level: X Hot  Scoville: 10,000

~ Packet contains 30 seeds.

Looking for a hotter green chile? Check out the new Rattlesnake Green Chile, which has a Scoville of 10,000-18,000, so it can get hotter than the Lumbre X-Hot!

In early spring, start seeds indoors 8 weeks prior to warm nightly temperatures. Place the seeds in sterile media and cover 1/4” deep. Provide 85°F bottom heat, bright light and keep moist at all times. Seeds will germinate in 7 - 21 days. Transplant seedlings into pots and grow until there are 6 true leaves on the plant. Plant them directly into rich soil, 30” apart or into large 5 gallon containers. Harvest chiles when they are green. If left on the plant a couple more weeks, the chiles will turn red at full maturity.

*Technically, to call any of these chiles "Hatch Chiles," they must be grown in the Hatch region of New Mexico. But we still think they taste great when grown all over the world, plus fresh homegrown chile is always extra-delicious and it's often hard to get New Mexican chile around the world! So this is way you can grow a little bit of New Mexico in your garden, no matter where you live.

All of our seeds are GMO-free.

Nothing but the best

Not only do these chiles have a good kick to them but they are also delicious! They are extremely pretty and grow big yields! Later in the growing season these plants have a perfect mix of red and green which POP in your garden. I definitely recommend drying these out and adding them to your favorite recipes.

very impressive

from the 30 seeds, these gems gave us over 150 lbs of smoking hot chiles.
We topped them twice and they never got over 24" tall and really put out the goods.
Thank you Sandia seeds !!!

TOO HOT FOR ME

Only got one plant to grow. It was a good producer for the size for one year. We could not use them in many dinners because of the heat. My co-workers loved them because they love really hot chili peppers.

Excellent!

I love the Hatch line of peppers and this one did not disappoint! It had everything I was looking for, heat, and flavor. The plant was vigorous and produced well also.
