October 2023 Update:
The new OFFICIAL hottest pepper in 2023 is Pepper X, which just dehtroned the former champ, the Carolina Reaper. The seeds are not being offered for growing.  Read more about it »

*Officially, the Carolina Reaper was the hottest pepper in the world in 2022 and the first half of 2023. The official Guinness World Record heat level of the Reaper was rated at 1,641,183 Scoville Heat Units (SHU) in 2017, according to tests conducted by Winthrop University in South Carolina. The figure is an average for the tested batch; the hottest individual pepper was measured at 2.2 million SHU.



As of August 2023, the new OFFICIAL hottest pepper in 2023 is Pepper X, which just dehtroned the former Guiness champ, the Carolina Reaper.

Unfortunately, you can't get seeds or pods for Pepper X yet, Ed Currie is keeping them in-house for now... but you CAN grow the Carolina Reaper which is also his creation and is wickedly hot.
