The Carolina Reaper is the official hottest pepper seeds you can grow!
Officially, the Carolina Reaper was the hottest pepper in the world in 2022 and the first half of 2023. The official Guinness World Record heat level of the Reaper was rated at 1,641,183 Scoville Heat Units (SHU) in 2017, according to tests conducted by Winthrop University in South Carolina. The figure is an average for the tested batch; the hottest individual pepper was measured at 2.2 million SHU.

But don't stop at just growing the hottest pepper you can grow, we've noticed that different peppers heat levels are perceived differently by people.

Some people can tolerate the heat of the Carolina Reaper, but when they try Ghost Peppers and they seem way hotter to them. People's perception of heat levels in different peppers can vary significantly between individuals, due to genetics, spice tolerance, and even the specific pepper variety. All of the hottest chili have their own flavor profiles, so it is super fun to try them all.
