Big Jim Legacy is an all-around winner when it comes to green chile. It has incredible New Mexican chile flavor, thick flesh, and mild to medium heat. A favorite for chile rellenos.
Great flavor and thick meat on these beautiful 8-10“ pods. Produces an abundant crop on 30” tall plants. When full size and green in color, this New Mexico chile is perfect for big stuffed rellenos. It has incredible flavor and smells so good when it is being roasted. The pods peel easily and have thick flesh with the perfect amount of heat and flavor. These green chiles have large harvests. We usually like to pinch off the first couple of blooms on seedlings to encourage more blooms and chiles later. The dry red Legacy Big Jim chile can be used to make delicious red enchilada sauce. ~ Packet contains 30 seeds.
In early spring, start seeds indoors 8 weeks prior to warm nightly temperatures. Place the seeds in sterile media and cover 1/4” deep. Provide 85°F bottom heat, bright light, and keep moist at all times. Seeds will germinate in 7 - 21 days. Transplant seedlings into pots and grow until there are 6 true leaves on the plant. Plant them directly into rich soil, 30” apart or into large 5-gallon containers. Harvest peppers when they are green.
Versatile peppers --- Grow strong and vigorous, with peppers in summer into fall.
This is my third year growing Big Jim peppers --- They're strong, thick-fleshed & tasty. Whether added to dishes when fresh or if frozen, these peppers are versatile and can be added to so many recipes... even when not listed as an essential ingredient. These green chilies capture the rich flavor of New Mexico!

Great service
The service was great, received the seeds in short time. The challenge is growing peppers in western Montana. Cooler climate always a challenge, I won't know until the end of the season how the peppers did, but it will have more to do with location than anything.

So far so good…
Seeds arrived quickly, germinated well and seedlings are healthy. Just waiting out Spring chill to transplant and hopefully enjoy. Thanks.
