This is the first jalapeño developed that is golden yellow. Oro means gold in Spanish, hence the name. Created by the Texas Agriculture Extension Service in 1992. Most significant, perhaps, is the fact that it is disease resistant to 6 types of viruses that often affect peppers.
Plants produce big yields of colorful yellow jalapeño peppers that are 2” long with juicy thick walls. The medium-hot fruits are milder than a regular jalapeño. The shorter 24” plants make this a good container variety. TMV resistant. Great for poppers, adding to salsas, or other dishes to add color and some heat.
The yellow Jalapeno Jaloro will turn from pale golden yellow to orange and eventually red if left to ripen on the plant.
Capsicum annuum (65 days) Heirloom, Open-pollinated
Heat Level: Medium Scoville: 5,000
~ Packet contains 10 seeds.

In early spring, start seeds indoors 8 weeks prior to warm nightly temperatures. Place the seeds in sterile media and cover 1/4” deep. Provide 85°F bottom heat, bright light, and keep moist at all times. Seeds will germinate in 7 - 21 days. Transplant seedlings into pots and grow until there are 6 true leaves on the plant. Plant them directly into rich soil, 30” apart or into large 5-gallon containers. Harvest chiles when they are yellow.
All of our seeds are GMO-free.

We ordered and received a package that stated Jalapeno M, but what grew seem to be Jaloros, as they fit the jaloro description perfectly, so I'll put my review here. These are very mild and tasty with a beautiful green/yellow color. If jalapenos are typically too hot for you, use these for any and all dishes in which you want that delicious green pepper flavor. We will grow green jalapenos later, but for now, we are enjoying these jaloros. Btw, we have not-great growing conditions (only a couple hours of sun), and these still grew pretty well.
These glow in the garden, and were the first hot peppers I got to pick these season. I have three plants and they are loaded with jalapenos - what a nice golden color they have. We're making poppers with them tonight. Yum! Will grow again, the seeds all sprouted easily with some bottom heat and the plants are one of the fastest growing peppers in our garden. Excited for this new variety to have in our salsa garden. :) Thanks for the great seeds!
These really are golden in color, so unique with great flavor and just the right amount of heat. We made these into golden jalapeno poppers, a big hit at our bbq.
100% germination and healthy seedlings. Thanks!
Thanks for the fast shipping! I already have a few seeds sprouting. I'll post a followup review after I grow these this summer, but I'm very excited to grow a new jalapeno - the glowing yellow color on these look amazing. I'm also excited for some more jalapeno heat, perfect for salsas and poppers.
