Create the flavorful tabasco sauce with fresh, fleshy and peppers in the right state of ripeness. Add distilled white vinegar and salt. Some recipes add garlic and sugar. Ferment and enjoy! Check out our amazing Easy Fermented Hot Sauce Recipe »

Plants are 2’- 4’ tall and loaded with slender 1-1/2” pods that grow upright. Chiles mature from yellow-green to bright red and have a unique, smoky flavor that creates their distinctive tabasco taste. Easy to grow and vigorous. Good for container gardens and ornamental.

Capsicum frutescens (81 days) Heirloom - Open Pollinated

Heat Level: Very Hot  Scoville: 30,000 - 50,000

~ Packet contains 10 seeds.

In early spring, start seeds indoors 8 weeks prior to warm nightly temperatures. Place the seeds in sterile media and cover 1/4” deep. Provide 85°F bottom heat, bright light and keep moist at all times. Seeds will germinate in 7 - 21 days. Transplant seedlings into pots and grow until there are 6 true leaves on the plant. Plant them directly into rich soil, 30” apart or into large 5 gallon containers. Harvest peppers when they are full size and glossy red.

Beautiful, Productive Plant

100% of the seeds I planted grew into healthy plants. They each produced a ton of incredibly hot little peppers great for hot sauces and hot vinegars. The surprise, the plants are beautiful as the peppers ripen. I will be planting these again, but in my front yard.

Great to grow!

I grow these Tabasco pepper seeds every year, I love the diverse colors and the heat is just right. I call these my Christmas chile plants in July.

Great looking plants, very productive!

Glad that we grew these Tabasco seeds this year, they grew into robust large plants that are loaded with beautiful Tabasco peppers. Quite ornamental! And, now they're fermenting in my crock to make some homemade tabasco sauce. Sweet.

The real thing.

These are really fun to grow. Tons of small upright peppers from each plant make a fermented wonder. Nothing but a little salt, time and maybe some oak combined with a little vinegar makes the famous Tabasco sauce, but even better than the store bought.
