Poblano - Fresh green poblanos make some of the best rellenos because of their mild heat and heart-like shape. Anchos are the dried form of this pepper, and are used in making many sauces like mole. This heirloom is easy to grow.

Chiles are 4" long and 2-1/2" wide and ripen from dark green to rust red. Plants are 30" tall and yield a continuous harvest all season long. Capsicum annuum (75 days)

Heat Level: Mild  Scoville 500 - 1,000

~ Packet contains 10 seeds.

In early spring, start seeds indoors 8 weeks prior to warm nightly temperatures. Place the seeds in sterile media and cover 1/4” deep. Provide 85°F bottom heat, bright light and keep moist at all times. Seeds will germinate in 7 - 21 days. Transplant seedlings into pots and grow until there are 6 true leaves on the plant. Plant them directly into rich soil, 30” apart in the garden, or into large 5 gallon containers. Harvest chiles when they are green.

All of our seeds are GMO-free.

So Tasty!

Every season, this pepper is in our line up. When roasted, it is absolutely the best tasting pepper in the world. I roast poblano & pimento peppers every year and cannot be without this variety in the garden!

BEST Poblanos EVER!!

Do you crave dark green delicious poblano peppers? Do you hope for large 4-5 inch long poblano peppers? Do you want dozens of poblanos growing on each plant? Do you dream of an easy to care for disease free poblano plant? Do you want healthy, strong growing plants 4-5 feet tall? Can you just taste that classic poblano in enchiladas? THESE are the poblano seeds you want!
Seeds were started indoors with 100% germination and transplanted outside in late May. Plants grew 4-5 feet tall and were so healthy and completely disease-free. This pepper loves the sun and has no problem standing strong in our 100+ degree summer days. The poblanos were a glossy dark green and so big! We enjoyed tons of peppers and shared with our family. Our favorite dish is Creamy Poblano Chicken Enchiladas. I chop up poblanos and put in freezer bags so we can enjoy their fresh taste all winter long. I can't recommend these poblanos enough.

Tasty poblanos!

These poblano seeds were great, they quickly sprouted and grew into nice sized plants with lots of poblanos. We love making stuffed poblanos and these were perfect. Our entire family enjoyed the feast.

Great for Colorado

If you garden in Colorado or any high elevation, short growing season, hail storms late July, blistering hot days and dang near hurricane force winds…. These are the seeds for you. My plants were put to the test this year and this was one of my highest yielding and best performing and most resilient pepper plants. These seeds are coming from very good genetic lines and I highly recommend them. This particular plant was first eaten to the nub… TWICE… by rabbits. We had an unbelievably windy spring, this plant kept on growing, it just has a beautiful thick trunk on it. July 26th came along and we got SMASHED by a hail storm. My garden looked like it went through the mulcher, my house got a whole new roof and paint and gutters from how bad the storm was, and by late September I harvested about two dozen large healthy peppers. We have a very short growing season so I never expect a huge harvest first year. But this year I am storing my pepper plants to replant next year (they are perennials) and am pretty sure I’ll get a good second year harvest.

Poblano Chilis

An annual favorite of ours. Great for salsas, cheese filled. I can them in strips for easier use throughout the year.

Great peppers!

Bought these seeds last year. Very good germination rate. They produced half a dozen tall, elegant plants which yielded a prolific crop of tasty peppers with just the right level of heat for chiles rellenos and general purpose use (let them ripen all the way to bright red and substitute for bell peppers in any sauce or relish to kick it up a bit). Overwintered the two best plants and got the same yield and quality this year. Very useful and versatile pepper.

Seeds for Zone 7a

I ordered several seeds varieties for 2021. So far I am very happy with the delivery. Looking forward to start in April for June planting. Thanks for excellent service! Found this gem of a company that specializes in peppers. Thanks Sandia Seed Company! I could not have found the collection I bought from you anywhere else!

hand over fist

I started all the seeds, these are my sister's favorite so I just kept 3 plants, she got the rest. My new puppy dug up my plants, drug n chewed them all over the yard. I salvaged them, babied them, finally just replanted only one, I mistakenly thought the other 2 would never be any good, they went in the compost.
I planted it in my raised bed in a 70% 2nd year mushroom compost soil, sand, peat moss, perilite, and a natural phosphorous planted under the roots. In about 3 weeks you would never have believed it was the same plant. Lateral limbs coming out. From there it just went crazy.
I have picked 66 good sized peppers . Thick walled, fantastic flavor. There are 15 small peppers on now. I cut the blooms off so these could go ahead and finish. I am zone 7b. Weather just now turning cold.
I had good results from all my peppers this year but this one, WOW. Hatch medium was also fantastic. I might have to stress some next year.

The best rellenos ever!

I bought these seeds for the second time just recently. They went into the garden today.

I have great expectations!

The plants get about 2 feet tall and produce enough fruit that you can pinch of some fruit to produce bigger fruit.

I have another variety of Hatch that I am growing as well. I will roast these right along with the Hatch chile to produce a very nice mixture of flavor.
